The Hope Foundation Ring 2017

A local non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities in our school district, to benefit both students and teachers. Since 1997 the H.O.P.E. Foundation has been striving to provide opportunities that are not included in the district's normal budget in order to remain and grow the school's high academic achievements through focus on the students and teachers themselves. Hononegah High School remains in the top high schools in the state.

For the past several years, the Gem Shop has donated the main raffle item: The Hope Ring. This year is no different. What is different about this years ring is the design process. For the first time, we asked a few select students that were currently in Hononegah's jewelry making class to participate and design the Hope Ring for this years Hope Foundation Event: A Touch of Spring Gala. We gave them stone specifications and they did the rest using the Gem Shops state of the art 3D computer aided design system. Benefiting from expert guidance by Paige DesJardin, the students incorporated this years Gala theme of "Country & Western" by adding rope detail around the center stone in 14k Yellow Gold. They wanted to compliment the center stone (Oval Morganite) with 14k Rose Gold twisted shank to further the rope detail. And it wouldn't be a Gem Shop Original without some diamonds, so they added two .15ct diamonds with 14k yellow bezels to each side.

The students that helped design the Hope Ring were a bright group of future jewelry designers. The way they lit up with inspiration and delight while discussing which design elements to go with was quite refreshing. We are looking forward to making this joint effort with Hononegah's Jewelry Making students and the Gem Shop a new tradition for the Hope Ring.

Incorporating the students in the design process of the ring not only give us, the Gem Shop, the pleasure of helping the community but it also gives us a chance to mentor and aid in the building of dreams and goals of those who have found a passion in jewelry, like us.
